Here are some of our Beginner Clinic reminders.

Pitching-Chipping-Putting.

PCP- putt when you can- chip when you can't putt and pitch when you can't chip.

Putting:

Alignment:

Read green per break of ball to hole.

Mark ball and clean if needed then set back with line or name or arrow pointing at your target. When above ball and putter head lined up with the line of the putter and line(word) on top of ball.

Distance

Picture hole for distance feel. Use your feet and make stroke with putter head to go foot to foot. Stroke pace (1...123) should always be the same only the distance the putter head travels changes remember you slowly accelerate. Practice maintaining your pace and it is the distance you take the putter back and follow through that determines impact speed therefore distance. Shoulders only move and head remains steady and looking down.

Chipping and pitching is similar to above only a different club in hand. Pick a target in front of ball because you cannot mark the ball like putting. Set club at target you chose then do your set up routine without moving the club. Now get under the ball for it to use loft of clubface to get ball air born. Adjust ball position in stance by starting with feet together. Separate feet equally for center ball position. Move front foot more to set ball further back in stance.

Clubs

Driver 1 is the Driver - used off a tee at the tee off area. The 3 that looks like Driver but smaller is called a 3 fairway metal. Used as the name suggests in the fairway when a long distance from your target and or green.

Irons 9,8,7,6,-hybrids as these numbers go down the distance they hit the ball goes up.

Pw.,Sw- Wedges are used close to the green..depends on how far you hit them, everyone varies.

Chipping and Pitching Distances

Use the clock for distance control.

Club goes back and through per these numbers on the clock

5-7 for short distance

4-8

3-9

2-10 for longer distance.

Full Swing - 2 important adds.

1 Weight Transfer

Move weight to back foot for back swing then to the front while making your forward(down) swing. Keep feet as stationary as possible. Keep head steady and looking down looking at the ball the whole time.

2 Wrist Hinge

Take club back further and follow through further, but lead arm must remain straight. you add weight transfer and wrist hinge and it is the ability to combine unhinging the wrists while moving your weight from the back foot to the front that adds power to ball at impact. The timing of these pieces requires practice and playing.

Routine:

Set-up routine should be practiced as much as the swing. Like swinging the more you practice your routine the more naturally you will do it. Remember if you do not start lined up right you cannot accurately assess your results. This will make it harder to improve your golf game.

Stand behind ball and pick a short target about 1-2 ft in front of ball and in line with your finish target. Once the club is lined up with short target adjust your stance feet together then separate per ball position. Driver ball position is even with front foot while Wedge is in middle of stance. All other clubs line up between these 2 positions. You experiment with this as to what works best for you.

Swing Tempo

Back swing slow speed - onnnnne

Down swing and follow thru 1-2-3 meaning more acceleration to a finish in balance on your front foot looking down the fairway at the pretty shot you just hit !!!

Ultimately you get to know your yardages with the various clubs in your bag.

Club selection goes accordingly to where your target is.
